Psalm 139:23-24 (NLT)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
-to yield to the power, control, or possession of another upon compulsion or demand
-to give up completely or agree to forgo especially in favor of another
-to give (oneself) up into the power of another especially as a prisoner
-to give (oneself) over to something (such as an influence)
In light of this definition of surrender, may I say. “God does not demand, He convicts, He draws, He beckons, He invites. When we surrender, we become His child in His family. We become co heirs together with Christ, in His kingdom. We are filled with not just His influence, but with the glory and power of God through the person of the Holy Spirit. If we are prisoners, we are prisoners of mercy, goodness and love."
There is nothing easy about fallen man surrendering to an unseen God. It is the most important and biggest fight of your life. Will you yield? And will you yield again and again? As a believer, your old nature hates it when you surrender, but it is precisely in that place that you are propelled into a new place of freedom. It continues to be the greatest battle of your life, even as a believer.
