1 I will sing of your love and justice, Lord. I will praise you with songs.
2 I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.
3 I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them.
4 I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.
5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride.
6 I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me.
7 I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence.
8 My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the Lord from their grip.
What we do in private does matter. God see's us, and knows us through and through. I believe it is important to live with the awareness that God never leaves us as believers for a moment. His Spirit resides in our spirit and we are one with Him. How we behave when no one else is around, can either erode or build our trust with Him. He wants to increase our influence. He can not increase our influence if we are not trustworthy and aligned to His standards of life that reveal His nature and ways.
I think it is also important to remember, you see you. Personal integrity and self respect are powerful, vital components of living freely and confidently from your heart moving forward into your destiny. If you continually disrespect your convictions and fall to temptation repetitively, you might end up in a place that is not a true reflection of who you really want to be. This is where people often settle for less than their true dreams and destiny of what God intends.
It takes hard work to set boundaries with people who have no problem crossing certain lines with you, and it can be difficult to rock their boat! But remember, you have a dream and a destiny to fulfill that does not come easy or natural. You live to the beat of a different drum. The real test is following your own personal boundaries with yourself! You have a relationship with God that must come first before anyone or anything. You can't live and prosper in God’s plan for your life without His anointing, blessing, and favor resting upon you daily. Stay close to Him, and tread lightly before His presence. He does have a plan, but you must live it out each day under His loving watchful eye, yielding to a higher standard of ways than this world could fathom. He has given us everything we need to escape the decay and death of sin if we will live in tandem with His heart.
2 Peter 1:3-9 (ESV)
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[a] his own glory and excellence,[b]4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,[c] and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities[d] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.
