Old Book Smell

"Listen well to My words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep My message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health." - Proverbs 4:22 (The Message, a paraphrase)

I'm among those, (And I've discovered there's a lot!), who prefer an overstuffed, "can-barely-walk-for-the-stacks-of-books," kind of bookstore over the trendy and techy stores of today.

There are even a new Air Freshener and Candle line that offers the aroma called, "Old Book Smell."  I don't know if it is the materials that it's made from or the fact that I can physically feel it.  But there is something human about holding a book.  I like turning its pages and reading words that are not backlit but ink on a page.

I like old books.  Old books seem to demand respect for a bygone era.  They require tenderness and care.  I read them a bit different than my books that are digitally available on my iPad.

There's One Old Book that exceeds them all!  It remains to be the Top Selling Book Of All Time, and it's not postured to diminish any time soon:  The Bible.  The Living Word of God!  Though It is among the oldest of all literature, it remains to be the most relevant Volume in all of our human history.

Many say, "The Bible is no more than a History Book."  Or, "The Bible is outdated and should be dismissed!"  It's critics forget that the Bible's Author, God, Who is also called, Alpha, has always been and has always known all things.  He was aware and understood this, even our world in our day, long before He breathed His Word!  His wisdom and ways are high above that of Man's.  His Word remains superior to every philosophy or imagination that would exalt itself in any age.

If you read God's Word on your Smart Device or you hold It's old-precious-pages in your hands, breath in It's Life-giving and life-changing Truth!  It is Alive and Powerful!  It's a Book like no other.  When all other literature, philosophies, and volumes have faded into the dust, The Word of God will "forever stand in heaven, firm and resolute." (Psalm 119:89)
