"I am only a little rose or autumn crocus of the plain of Sharon or a [humble] Lily of The Valleys [that grows in deep and difficult places]." Song of Solomon 2:1 (AMPC)
For most, the mention of a valley is a reference to a difficult time, place or experience. The Valley is not where you want to be; and indeed, if you're in one, you aim to get out of it as quickly as you can.
It's not a matter of "If" you're ever in a valley, but rather, "When" you're in a valley. This journey that you and I are on includes different valleys. Valleys of doubts, discouragements, despair, and even the valley of death and loss. The good news is that, even in the deep, difficult places, God has seen ahead of time; and has made a beautiful provision for you: The Lily of the Valleys.
There are remarkable reasons that the Bible identifies Jesus Christ as The Lily of The Valleys:
- This flower grows in the deep and difficult places. In the looming shadows of uncertainty, the Lily grows strong and beautiful, with a fragrance so powerful, that it can alter any atmosphere. The aromatic essence of a Lily is used to treat individuals suffering from depression. Any Christian who has experienced the presence of God can readily see the nature of Jesus mirrored in this Bloom of Blessing!
- The Lily produces healing waters that are used primarily for the restoration of the throat and vocal chords. Any amount of time spent in a valley, is a stark reminder of how easy it is to lose your voice of faith in difficult seasons or situations.
- Lily Oil has many beneficial applications. It heals the skin and reduces inflammation. It's used as a salve to soothe the skin around the eyes. It's challenging to keep a clear vision of God's promises and plans from the bottom of a valley. The Lily helps to keep your eyes of faith well and active through the most severe situations.
When your journey takes you into a Valley, look for the Lily. He is there with help, with healing, and with hope!
