Mixing Truth With Not Truth

When did mixing food with not food become food?
— Panera Television Commercial, January, 2017

This is nothing new.  We humans have a knack of adapting things to our liking.  This is good when we're talking about the air-conditioning or deciding what our next hair color will be.  It's not good, however, when we're considering our food, our health or what we put into our bodies. Just because adding certain things to our vegetables may make them taste better, it doesn't mean that it's good for us.  Even more critical than our food is when we attempt to adapt God's Word to our lives rather than the other way around.  The Apostle Peter warned us of this...

"Some things Paul writes are difficult to understand. Irresponsible people who don’t know what they are talking about twist them every which way. They do it to the rest of the Scriptures, too, destroying themselves as they do it.  But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ."  ~ 2 Peter 3:16-17 (The Message)

Many things are being preached today, in the Body of Christ, that are simply not God's Word.  The Truth has been mixed into it but "When did mixing Truth with not truth become Truth?"   What's being presented is a human effort to adapt God's Word to our present world and not the other way around.  One of your greatest advantages, in this world, is to be armed with the Truth!  I echo Peter, "Be aware!  Be awake!  Love the Truth!  Study it, learn it so that you can effectively live it!"  Grow in grace as you align your life to God's Word and not the other way around!
