"Did You Bring Your Sword?"

"Take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

~  Ephesians 6:17b (NLT)

As a carpenter without his hammer or a pilot without his navigational charts, so is a soldier without his sword.  Of all the vital pieces of God's Armor, afforded us in Christ, the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is the only offensive weapon.  No wonder your enemy will do all that he can to keep you from maximizing it's potential in your life.  Here are a few key disciplines that will help you to carry your Sword consistently and wield it effectively:

  • Daily read the Word of God
  • Believe the Word of God
  • Speak and Pray the Word of God
  • Hide (meditate on and memorize) the Word of God in your heart
  • Obey the Word of God

As a soldier, engaged in battle, the enemy is not concerned about your gifts, your personality, or your experience.  What worries your enemy the most is God's Word!  More exact, God's Word in your heart, declared with your mouth and followed through with your actions.  Wherever you go, as a Soldier of Jesus Christ, bring your Sword and be ready to use it!
