Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
This is a verse and refrain of one of my favorite hymns I learned growing up. It doesn't mean that you are to ignore the world and it's broken condition. Rather, as you look to Jesus and see "His wonderful face," the way you see the world will change. There is no beauty, no power, no hope, and no life like that which is found in the face of The Savior. Take time to look away from all that would distract and discourage. Lift your eyes, today! See the world in the light of His magnificent and merciful countenance.
"Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." ~ Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)
