Did You Learn This Prayer?

Did you learn this prayer as a child?

"God is great!  God is good.  Let us thank Him for our food.  Amen!"

Simple, childlike and very profound:

God is Great!  ~  Our God is not a philosophy!  He is not a statue, an icon or some religious ideal. Our God, Jehovah, is the Almighty One, Who has created all things.  Great is His might!  Great is His Name!  Great is His love and mercy to us!

God is good!  ~  This truth has never been under attack, any more so, than in this present day.  "If God is good, why does He allow this and that to happen?"  (Answering this question is for another post.)  What we must understand is this:  "The goodness of God endures continually." (Psalm 52:1b)  God is good.  The Devil is bad.  God's goodness includes His wisdom, His timing, and His plans.  He is willing, able and faithful to use all things for your good as you follow Him. (Romans 8:28)

Let us thank Him for our food.  ~  Giving thanks to God reveals a heart of faith, honor and humility.  "By Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name." (Hebrews 13:15)  No matter what you may be facing today, there is always something or someone, for which, to give God thanks.

"I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses."  ~  Isaiah 63:7 (NKJV)
