I watched with unflinching wonder as she filled the pitcher with water....surrounded by rumblings of outburst...questions, opinions, hums and bated breath...she asked us, "What's going to happen when I bump this pitcher of water?" Above all the answers she rewarded the shout, "The water will spill out!"
This seems so simple but carries a profound truth: "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." (Luke 6:45)
What's been poured in will, no doubt, be poured out when you're bumped, challenged or under pressure. Intentionally, diligently hide God's Word in your heart. Build your faith-filled, life-giving, blessing-invoking vocabulary. After all, the word of your mouth is the rudder of your ship (James 3:4). Don't just steer, steer well in times of trouble.
