“Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears Me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with Me." ~ Revelation 3:20 (TLB)
He's no longer a baby, lying in a manger. But He's still looking for a place to live and move and fulfill His purposes in the earth. Do you have room for Jesus in your life? Here are four primary ways to make room for Him:
- Humility - "But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it)." ~ James 4:16 (AMPC) Pride pushes away. Humility acknowledges and welcomes the help that only God can give.
- Holiness - "Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord." ~ Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC) Jesus has faced every temptation without sinning. He's promised to show us the way of escape.
- Honor - "All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; He alone is God." ~ 1 Timothy 1:17 (NLT) A haughty heart feels the desperate need to receive credit and magnify its own importance. Honor exalts and glorifies another.
- Help - "Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see You hungry and feed You? Or thirsty and give You something to drink? Or a stranger and show You hospitality? Or naked and give You clothing? When did we ever see You sick or in prison and visit You?' And the King will say, ‘I tell You the truth when you did it to one of the least of these My brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me!" ~ Matthew 25:37-40 (NLT) One who will make room for Jesus must also make room for all that is in His heart; His love, compassion and great desire to help and heal our world.
Jesus is looking for these vital elements in the heart in which He will dwell. Prepare Him room. Let Him have His place of Lordship in your life. You will be so glad that you did!
